In May 1998 the 1992 Fund Assembly took the view that floating storage units (FSUs) and floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs) did not normally fall within the scope of application of the 1992 Conventions, but that it was possible that some structures of this type might in particular circumstances. The Assembly decided that an informal working group led by the United Kingdom delegation would examine the matter, in co-operation with the Secretariat. The Assembly invited Member States and interested parties to present their views on the subject and agreed that the working group would consider the matter and report to the Assembly at its October 1998 session.
