In October 2004 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee noted that preliminary proceedings were continuing in the Examining Court in Corcubión in which the master, chief engineer and the first officer of the Prestige were charged, together with Director of Operations of the shipowner and the former Director-General of the Merchant Marine. It was also noted that the Spanish administration had been supporting the request of the master for a review of the measures adopted by the Court prohibiting him from leaving Spanish territory and that an appeal by the master, supported by the administration, was pending before the Court of Appeal.
