In May 2002 the 1971 Fund Administrative Council noted that as a result of the undertaking by the shipowner’s insurer to make available for payments to claimants the indemnification amount of £1 211 780 to which the insurer was entitled under Article 5.1 of the 1971 Fund Convention, the Director had decided in October 2001 that all established claims could be paid in full and that the payments of the balance of 60% to those claimants who had received only 40% of the approved amount had been made, as were payments in respect of established claims for which no payments had been made.
