Decision ID: 001098

In February 2000 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee considered a request from the Département of Vendée that the 1992 Fund should pay the cost of a publicity campaign to counteract the negative consequences of the incident for the tourism industry. The Committee, whilst recalling the established policy that the Fund did not normally accept claims for measures to prevent economic loss until the measures had been carried out, accepted that in principle it appeared reasonable that measures should be taken to counteract the negative consequences for the tourism industry. The Committee emphasised the need for co-ordination by the French Government of any publicity campaigns and for the Government and the Fund to work together on this issue.
