Decision ID: 001032

In April 1999 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee reconsidered the question as to whether or not the claims by three Village Fishery Associations (VFAs) filed in the limitation proceedings had become time barred vis-à-vis the 1971 Fund. It was noted that although the VFAs had not themselves made notification to the Fund, the shipowner had notified the Fund of the limitation proceedings under Article 7.6 of the 1971 Fund Convention and that the Fund had effectively intervened in those proceedings. The Committee decided that the claims by the three VFAs were not time-barred.
