Decision ID: 000773

In June 1997 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee decided that, in view of the continuing uncertainty as to the total amount of claims arising from the incident, the level of compensation payments should be maintained at 60% of the amount of the damage actually suffered by the respective claimants as assessed by the experts engaged by the Funds and the shipowner/insurer at the time when the payment was made. The Director was instructed to obtain as much additional information as possible on the estimated total amount of the claims so that the percentage could be reviewed at the Committee’s next session.
