Decision ID: 000720
In April 1997 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee decided to authorise the Director to pay all settled claims in full, provided that all or most of the outstanding claims in the fisheries and tourism sectors had been settled on the basis of ITOPF’s assessments, that any uncertainty be eliminated as to the level of the shipowner’s claim relating to the cost of measures associated with the contract to remove the ship and related operations, and that the Director was convinced that the aggregate amount of all claims arising out of the incident would fall below 60 million Special Drawing Rights (£51 million).
