In October 1996 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee reiterated its position that claims for fees paid by claimants to their professional advisers would not be reimbursed by the Fund on a contingency or percentage basis and that the Fund could pay compensation in respect of professional fees only to claimants who were entitled to compensation for pollution damage and on the basis of strict criteria laid down by the Committee.
