In October 1991 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee instructed the Director to lodge an appeal against the Court of Appeal judgement accepting the Italian Government’s claim in respect of damage to the environment if the judgement were to lead to the Fund being called upon to pay compensation as a result of the incident and to submit the matter to the Committee for consideration at its next session in the light of the judgement.
