In October 1992 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee instructed the Director to appeal against the judgement to be rendered by the Court of first instance if the Court were not to accept the Fund’s position that the conversion of the into Italian Lire of the maximum amount payable by the Fund should be made on the basis of the value of the SDR and not the free market value of gold.
