In October 1993 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee decided that reasonable fees for work done by experts on behalf of claimants would be considered, although fees would not be paid on a contingency or percentage basis, but assessed on the basis of the necessity for the claimant to use expert advice, the usefulness of the work carried out by the expert, the quality of the work, the time needed and the normal rate for work of that type.
