In October 1993 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee authorised the Director to settle claims in respect of clean-up operations by certain entities, claims for losses by fishermen (excluding losses which might be suffered in the future), claims by a power station and chemical factory for costs of cleaning their water intakes, claims by hotels, restuarants and other tourism related businesses for loss of income and a claim by a University for the cleaning of two yachts. The Committee also decided that claims presented by fish processing factories, if any, should be submitted to the Committee for its consideration.
