Decision ID: 000231

At its June 1993 session the 1971 Fund Executive Committee considered general questions concerning the admissibility of claims arising from the Haven, Aegean Sea and Braer incidents, in particular claims for pure economic loss. The Committee acknowledged that it would be necessary to asssess for each claim the link between the contamination and the loss and that there must be reasonable proximity between the contamination and the pure economic loss for the claim to be admissible. The Committee recognised that there was a need for general criteria for the admissibility of claims and it was suggested that the Assembly should consider this matter.
