In October 1999 the 1992 Fund Assembly elected Mr C Coppolani (France) as Chairman, Professor H Tanikawa (Japan) as first Vice-Chairman and Captain A Saúl Bandala (Mexico) as second Vice-Chairman to hold office until the next regular session of the Assembly. The Chairman informed the Assembly that he had decided that he would not be available to serve as Chairman beyond the end of the present session. He therefore proposed that a new Chairman should be elected before the close of the session.
