In October 1996 the 1971 Fund Assembly decided to empower the Director to delegate the authority to settle claims, when he was away from the office or otherwise unable to approve claims, up to a maximum amount of £30,000, to an officer or officers responsible for the handling of claims arising out of a particular incident. The Assembly decided to insert provisions to this effect in the Internal Regulations.
