In October 1992 the 1971 Fund Assembly, noting information on the draft Convention on Liability and Compensation for Damage in Connection with the Carriage of Hazardous and Noxious Substances by Sea (HNS Convention), considered that the 1971 Fund should continue to participate in the on-going work of preparing the HNS Convention so that experience gained by the Fund in operating the system of liability and compensation for oil pollution damage would be brought to the attention of the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
