In September 1983 the 1971 Fund Assembly adopted a proposal to amend the Staff Regulations by changing the reference to the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization (IMCO) to its new name of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which change had taken effect from 23 May 1983.
