Decision ID: 001960

In October 2006 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee noted that earlier that month the Commercial Court in Saint-Nazaire had rendered a judgement in respect of a claim by the owner of a campsite for a reduction in the value of the campsite allegedly due to the incident, which the Fund had rejected on the grounds that the claimant had failed to establish that there had been a link of causation between the reduction in value and the pollution. It was noted that the Court had held that the reduction in the value of the campsite was not linked to the incident but to other causes, and had also considered that the reduction in the number of visitors during the summer of 2000 had been compensated by an increase in army personnel using the campsite during the spring of that year.
