Decision ID: 001181
In October 2000 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee considered the admissibility of a claim by a company producing oysters at a farm located 100 km outside the affected area for losses allegedly caused by a reduction in sales in the affected area due to market resistance as a result of the incident. The Committee considered that the information available was not sufficient to enable it to make a decision and instructed the Director to obtain further details of the claimant’s business, in particular, the extent to which the business was dependent on the affected area and whether it had opportunities to find alternative markets, and to resubmit the claim to the Committee at its 11th session.
