Decision ID: 000710
In February 1997 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee considered a claim by a haulage company engaged in general transportation throughout the United Kingdom from its base close to the area affected by the spill. The claim related to loss of income as a result of the company not being able to use a specialised vehicle, which had been purchased specifically to collect whelks from Saundersfoot (located in the area affected by the fishing ban imposed by the United Kingdom Government) and transport them to a fish processor. The Committee, recalling that it had rejected a similar claim arising from the Braer incident, but noting the differences of opinion expressed by delegations, instructed the Director to examine the claim further and to submit it for reconsideration at a future session.
