Decision ID: 000380
In May 1994 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee endorsed the Director’s view that, to avoid complications, the European Commission should concentrate on payments in respect of items not covered by the Civil Liability & Fund Conventions. The Committee agreed that should the Commission make payments in respect of loss or damage covered by the Conventions, it would facilitate matters if the Commission were to make clear to governments and competent authorities, as well as to recipients of the allocated funds, that the amounts received would be deducted from any compensation payable under the Conventions. The Director was instructed to continue discussions with the Commission to promote the co-ordination of compensation payments.
