In October 1987 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee, in a closed session (at which only representatives of Fund Member States were present) approved the proposed settlement agreement bewteen the 1971 Fund, the French State and various defendants provided that it was approved by the French State.The Committe authorised the Director to approve any necessary agreement concerning details of the proposed settlement, to sign the necessary documents relating thereto on behalf of the Fund and to take any other decision on outstanding questions relating to the incident.The Committe also agreed that the actions taken by the Fund and the French State in the Court of Brest should be withdrawn once the necessary documents regarding the settlement had been finalised and signed.
