In June 2001 the 1971 Fund Administrative Council noted that the United Arab Emirates had deposited an instrument of denunciation of the 1971 Fund Convention on 24 May 2001, and that when that denunciation took effect on 24 May 2002, the number of Member States would have fallen below 25, and the 1971 Fund Convention would cease to be in force on that day and would not apply to incidents occurring thereafter.
