In September 1990 the 1971 Fund Assembly decided to increase the levels of contributions to the Provident Fund to 7.9% and 15.8% for staff members and the 1971 Fund respectively, with effect from 1 January 1990. The Assembly confirmed that it was within the Director’s authority, pursuant to Staff Regulation 28, to implement increases in the levels of contributions to the Provident Fund corresponding to those adopted within the United Nations in respect of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund.
