In October 1999 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee decided to authorise the Director to make partial payments to those claimants whose claims had been approved but not paid, in the event that the claims pending in the court proceedings together with the claims that had been approved but not paid fell below £20 million. The Committee further decided that the proportion of of the approved amounts to be paid should be decided by the Director on the basis of the total amount of the outstandiing claims.
