In April 1999 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee instructed the Director to follow the proposal by the French delegation that he should take the opportunity of the forthcoming Meeting of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in New York to meet high level government representatives of 1971 Member States outside the formal Meeting in order to discuss the question of denunciation of the 1971 Fund Convention and the winding up of the 1971 Fund.
