In October 1996, in view of a statement by the Spanish delegation, the 1971 Fund Executive Committee confirmed its position, taken at its 49th (June 1996) session, that the Director had acted in full conformity with the policy laid down by the Fund’s governing bodies as regards the procedures to be followed and the requirements with respect to the presentation of evidence, and confirmed its full confidence in the Director’s handling of the case and in the experts used by the Fund.
