In April 1997 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee, noting that the master of the Sea Prince had been given a prison sentence as a result of the incident, and notwithstanding the Committee’s previous decision at its 49th session, instructed the Director to invetigate further the possibility of challenging the shipowner’s right to limit liability.
