In October 1985 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee noted that in the light of legal advice that a French court would very likely consider that the shipowner’s insurer had notified the Fund of its claim in accordance with Article 7.6 of the 1971 Fund Convention, thus interrupting the prescription period, the Director had decided to accept the claim on the basis of the authorisation given to him by the Executive Committee.
