Decisión nº: 000372

In May 1994 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee considered a claim relating to loss of income due to a claimant not being able to harvest, on a contract basis, salmon from two farms in the exclusion zone, the salmon having been destroyed. It was noted that the owners of the salmon farms had been compensated on the basis of all costs incurred in rearing, harvesting and first sale of fish. While it was considered that the Fund should not pay compensation twice for the same damage, the Committtee decided that in view of the small amounts involved, and since the harvesting activity was an integral part of the economic activity of the area affected by the spill, the claim was admissible in principle.
