In October 1994 the 1971 Fund Assembly, acknowledging the difficulty for a State to provide the 1971 Fund with information that had been obtained on the understanding that it would not be used against the source of the information, nevertheless accepted the United Kingdom delegation’s offer to lead a Correspondence Group of interested Member States to consider the problems encountered in different States concerning the various procedures and investigations carried out following an incident. It was agreed that the Group would report to the Assembly at its 18th session on progress made in identifying the problems and possible ways of overcoming them.
