In October 1998 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee decided that the 1971 Fund should postpone its consideration of the applicability of the 1969 Civil Liability Convention and the 1971 Fund Convention to floating storage units (FSUs) and floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs) until the 1992 Fund Assembly had taken a decision on the applicability of the 1992 Civil Liability Convention and the 1992 Fund Convention to such units, although it was recognised that the definition of ‘ship’ in the 1992 Conventions was wider than that in the 1969 and 1971 Conventions.
