In October 1996 the 1971 Fund Assembly and the 1992 Fund Assembly considered a request by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) for observer status with the 1971 Fund and the 1992 Fund respectively. Both Assemblies decided that, since the request had been received only a few days before the Assemblies’ sessions, and insufficient information about WWF had been provided, they were not in a position to grant observer status with either Fund.
