In October 2006 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee authorised the Director to settle all claims arising from the incident to the extent that they did not give rise to issues of principle not previously considered by the Funds’ governing bodies. The Committee also authorised the Director to make payments on behalf of the 1992 Fund in respect of all admissible claims arising from the incident to the extent that the shipowner’s insurer refused to make payments.
