In March 2006 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee recalled that the regional authorities of the Basque Region (Spain) had taken legal action against the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) in the Federal Court of first instance in Houston, Texas,claiming compensation for £28 million. It was noted that since the Spanish Government had compensated the Basque Region the action had been withdrawn.
