In October 2002 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee noted that in connection with the criminal investigation into the cause of the incident, in addition to the defendants charged during 2000, charges were also brought against Total Fina and some of its senior staff on the basis of a report by an expert appointed by the magistrate.
