Decision ID: 001204
In January 2001 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee reconsidered the level of the 1992 Fund’s payments in the light of a further (January 2001) study carried out within the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry on the extent of the damage caused by the incident on the tourism industry, together with estimates by the Fund’s experts of other types of damage claims. Most delegations took the view that in spite of the remaining difficulty in estimating the claims exposure, the results of the study by the French Government appeared reliable. The Committee decided to increase the level of payments to 60% of the amount of the damage actually suffered by the respective claimants and agreed to review the situation again at its 12th session.
