In October 2000 the 1992 Fund Executive Committee and the 1971 Fund Administrative Council both decided,on the basis of the estimated total exposure of the Funds (¥28 468 million) and the total amount available for compensation (¥23 165 million, to authorise the Director to increase the level of the respective Fund’s payments to 80% of the amount of the damage actually suffered by the individual claimants when the total of the settled and pending claims fell below ¥27 800 million.
