Decision ID: 000986
In February 1999 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee instructed the Director to study the admissibility of claims relating to subsistence fishing (ie fishing carried out by individual fishermen mainly for the purpose of providing food for their families) in consultation with the Funds’ experts and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and to consider whether guidelines on the admissibility of such claims should be developed. The Committee considered that, since it had only been able to make a preliminary examination of the various issues, further discussions would be required at future sessions and that these should be co-ordinated with the discussions within the 1992 Fund.
