In October 1997 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee decided that in view of the remaining uncertainty concerning the total amount of the claims, in particular as regards a possible claim relating to the cost of the removal of the wreck and remaining oil on board, the level of the Fund’s payments should be maintained at 60% of the established damage suffered by each claimant.
