Decision ID: 000750
In April 1997 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee decided that in the light of the remaining uncertainty as to the level of the total amount of claims arisng from the incident, the level of payments should be maintained at 60% of the amount of the damage actually suffered by the respective claimants as assessed by the experts enagaged by the Funds and the shipowner/insurer at the time when the payment was made. The Director was instructed to obtain as much additional information as possible on the estimated total amount of claims so that the percentage could be reviewed at the Committee’s next session.
