In December 1995 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee shared the Director’s view that a claim by Shetland Island Council for the cost of handling representatives of the media and receiving cabinet ministers and other important people who visited Shetland in connection with the incident was not admissible, since the cost could not be considered as damage caused by contamination.
