In October 1993 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee, in noting that some employers within the salmon farming industry had maintained their workforce despite there being insufficient or no work for a time, and also noting that the damage suffered by the salmon farmers related to damage to property (i.e.their destroyed salmon), took the view that it would be for the salmon farmer concerned to decide whether or not to retain staff, without this having any impact on the amount of compensation payable.
