Decision ID: 000223

In March 1993 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee decided that claims for costs incurred by voluntary groups involved in the protection of wildlife in cleaning birds and other animals were in principle admissible as costs of preventive measures, noting that these groups had carried out an important and useful task in the context of the incident. The Committee authorised the Director to settle claims of this kind, subject to the condition that the operations were carried out in a responsible manner, were useful for mitigating the impact on birds and other animals, were carried out efficiently and the costs were reasonable.
