In March 1993 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee, recognising that any decisions in respect of claims for pure economic losses would have far reaching consequences, agreed with the Director that it was essential to study each claim in more detail so as to establish the extent to which the loss could be considered as having been caused by contamination. The Committee postponed its position on such claims so as to enable the Director to make such a study.
