In September 1983 the 1971 Fund Executive Committee approved the claim for US$878 609 by the shipowner’s insurer for expenses in surveying and sealing of the wreck. As regards a bonus which the shipowner’s insurer might have to pay the receiver of the bankrupt company that undertook the sealing operation, the Committee authorised the Director to negotiate an agreement with the insurer.
